The Way It Should Be Reached a Dream

Last week, one of my dreams came true. I’d written a list of long term goals years earlier, with one being a huge reach. I still had hope for this dream but assumed it to be many years down the road.

I’d asked for a Christy final.

On the morning of September 30, 2021, they announced the finalists. In the category of General Fiction, my name was called along with the title of what I feel at this time to be my most important novel, The Way It Should Be. Two weeks later, I still can’t believe it.

This honor is so far more than I could image. My editors, Rochelle Gloege and Raela Schoenherr deserve much of the credit, and I’m so thank for for them. They each added their own special insights and talents to the process.

One of my favorite places to find great titles is the list of Christy finalists. Check them out, and let me know which ones you’ve read.

Please join me on October 28th for the awards webcast. You can sign up to be a viewer here. Speakers include Philip Yancey, Amanda Dykes, Dallas Jenkins, Pete Peterson, and Chris Fabry.

    It Was A Big Day!

About a week ago, I had a seriously great day. I signed TWO contracts!

    Contract #1 – A New Agent!

My agent recently announced her retirement from the agenting game. The news caught me by surprise, but I quickly got up off the floor and starting evaluating my choices. There are some amazing agents out there, making this a tough decision, but I’m so happy with were I’ve landed.

Cynthia Ruchti is one of my favorite authors. Her stories leave me with so much to consider, and they often hold me accountable in areas I’m not so sure I want to change. A few months back, when Cynthia agreed to endorse my book, I was so thrilled. And now she is my agent. I have the opportunity to work with her as I move forward on this crazy journey.

    Contract #2 – A New Book!

I still can’t believe this one!

Kregel Publications will be publishing another of my books some time next year! It’s currently titled, Torn Edges. I’m thrilled to work with the group at Kregel again. They’ve been amazing!

Thank you to all of you who’ve been so supportive. Join me in a little happy dance, and come back soon for another If We Make It Home giveaway.
